Most people never run far enough on their first wind to find out if they've got a second. Give your dreams all you've got and you'll be amazed at the energy that comes out of you.

The Diamonds and Purls Shawl is finished! I am currently blocking it on an ugly towel, so photos will come tomorrow or the next day, once it's dry and I can put it on something prettier.

In the meantime, I started the Forest Canopy Shawl last night. I forgot about this one, and realized when I saw it that it was a better shawl for the Penelope yarn I had chosen for Evelyn Clark's Flower Basket Shawl (being green and all).

Here's where the Forest Canopy is now:

The photo of the yarn in the previous post is closer to the real color than this one. I don't know why my camera put yellow in it, because it's all greens. Oh well.

Here's a close up:

Again, nasty color. I'll try for better next time around.

The one thing I'm doing differently than the pattern is the decreases. The pattern calls for Sl1-k2tog-psso throughout, which is not a decrease that I fancy. So, I'm using k3tog on one side and SSSK on the other, so that the leaves are mirror images from the center. I'm liking it ~ it's a fun, easy pattern to knit with beautiful results.

So, since I'm using this yarn for the Forest Canopy, I grabbed another skein for the Flower Basket, which is this:
Flower Basket Shawl Yarn
Isis ~ 60% Cashgora / 40% merino in plums, golds, greens, browns ... much more flower gardeny than the previous. I can't wait to start this shawl as well. I love Evelyn Clark's designs, and really love this yarn, too, which has a slight halo and is very soft. I think it will make a wonderful shawl.

For some reason, my mind is just bouncing all kinds of ideas around. I've had a bunch of skeins of handspun alpaca in my stash for a couple of years now, in camel, gray and black. I'm now thinking to knit one of the shawls from Victorian Lace Today in these yarns. Most likely a rectangular one, and I'll figure out the color changes based on the pattern. It's more of a worsted weight yarn, and I'm thinking this will be a really warm, wonderful shawl to wrap up in. So, that may be next.

Although I do really want to start Icarus as well.

And make a decision about the zip-up cardigan.

Too many ideas, too little time.

Those yarns -- and the Forest Canopy -- ar beautiful (of course). I know what you mean about time vs. ideas.

And guess how happy I am that I can subscribe to your blog now?

And guess how blown away I was by a certain box that was waiting for me at the PO the other day? More on that later!

Sweet Jen,
Love the yarns, pattern tho'ts & color choices of what you are working on.
Thanks for the inspirations & ideas for me for 1)finishing the 2 shawls I have started, 2)completing the lace scarf I have started & 3)thinking of more lace projects.
XOXO

Love the shawl. I totally agree with the not enough time sentiment. I have so many projects - shawls, sweaters and other things that I want to knit. I know that I will get to them eventually, but I am impatient. I am working on that, though. Trying to enjoy each day for what it offers. I still hae my dreams, though.
